Job Summary

We are seeking an Application Engineer to support the design, development, and proposal of advanced wastewater treatment solutions utilizing Kubota’s industry-leading Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology. This position is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional who is passionate about sustainable infrastructure, water reuse, and innovative treatment technologies.

 

The Application Engineer serves as a technical expert responsible for pre-sales engineering, process design, cost estimation, and proposal development for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment projects. Working closely with the Application Engineering Manager, Regional Sales Managers, consulting engineers, and project stakeholders, this role develops treatment system designs, prepares technical and commercial proposals, and provides engineering support throughout the sales process.

Responsibilities

  • Develop MBR system designs including biological treatment process design, equipment sizing and selection, membrane treatment design, and basic civil engineering layouts.
  • Independently prepare budgetary and firm-price proposals for MBR system supply based on project requirements and bid specifications.
  • Coordinate with the Lead AE, AE Manager, and Regional Sales Managers to prioritize projects, establish expectations, and deliver engineering support on schedule.
  • Create BioWin biological process models, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), layout drawings, and other technical documents to support consulting engineers and project stakeholders.
  • Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, consulting engineers, wastewater treatment plant operators, and owners to develop treatment plant designs and project documentation.
  • Attend client meetings, industry conferences, and trade shows to support business development and maintain customer relationships.
  • Travel up to 10% as required to support project activities, customer meetings, and industry events.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, or a closely related field; or 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience directly related to wastewater treatment process engineering.
  • Experience with BioWin, AutoCAD, MS Office suites, other important office software skills preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) or more years of professional experience in wastewater treatment process engineering.
  • Demonstrated expertise in biological wastewater treatment processes, including a strong understanding of membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology, process modeling, design principles, and treatment plant operations.
  • Highly proficient in the application of BioWin and other process modeling tools to analyze, optimize, and troubleshoot biological treatment systems.
  • Experience supporting the design and implementation of municipal or industrial wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Strong technical communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with consulting engineers, owners, operators, contractors, and project teams.

Salary

Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including a candidate's education, skills, experience, training, industry knowledge, licensure and certifications, internal equity, and geographic market considerations. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $94,500 - $120,000. Compensation above the midpoint is typically reserved for candidates who meet or exceed the preferred qualifications and experience requirements for the role. The selected candidate will be eligible to receive discretionary annual bonus.
